Properties destroyed in Anambra as River Niger overflows its banks (Photos)
The River Niger situated in the eastern part of Nigeria, Anambra State,
has yet again overflowed its banks as forewarned by the National
Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, again leaving communities in this
part of Anambra state homeless and stranded.
It should be recalled that a few months back, following an intense
rainfall leading to a rise in water level of the River Niger; NEMA had
advised communities along side river to evacuate immediately to safer
ground as there was a likelihood of the river to overflow its bank any
moment.
This occurrence, however validates NEMA's previous
forecast, bringing back to memory the 2012 flooding that wrecked many
riverine communities of their properties.
